Olympic Air
Modern Greek aviation history has been unbreakably connected with the historic name
of Olympic. After a number of failed attempts the Greek government had to acquire
a large air company, somewhere in 1956 an agreement was signed between the Greek
government and Aristotle Onasis. It included the exclusive exploitation of the country’s
air transport. Almost a year later (6 April 1957), flights start and the first air
tickets were issued for the maiden trip Athens – Thessaloniki on a propeller plane

After an open competition, Olympic Airlines was under the control of MIG in March 2009 and on 1st October 2009 a new beginning was inaugurated for the legendary Olympic with the name Olympic Air. The company wanted to make a fresh start so it went ahead with the modernization of its fleet. There are already twenty four planes in full operation, while it is programmed for next year to purchase new modern planes that will cover qualitatively the needs of passengers.
Olympic Air offers air tickets for economic as well as first class seats in low prices, since the new company’s policy is to offer a combination of qualitative and economic services. The new company following today’s demands, offers the opportunity to purchase air tickets from its new web page. Olympic Air’s advantage is the itineraries to desolate destinations inside and outside the borders with really remarkable prices on the air tickets. Finally, it continues to sign strategic contracts with other internationally prestigious air companies, expecting soon to become first in the preferences of the Greek and foreigner passengers.
